Matt Brothers is a national wine marketing company dedicated to building brands. Peter and Barry Matt, the company's founders, believe that by focusing their energies on a limited number of products, they can build equity for themselves, their suppliers, their employees and their investors over the long term.

The company is predicated on the idea that a single brand is worth a thousand items. Matt Brothers believes that a growing number of consumers are trying wine for the first time, and others are just becoming familiar with exploring wine drinking. Creative marketing focused on a few items is aimed at bringing our products to this group.

Peter Matt is a twenty-two year veteran of the wine industry. Starting in 1977 as a clerk at Morrell & Company in New York, Peter went on to found Winebow, an import and distribution company, in 1980. By the end of 1992, when Peter sold his interest in the company, Winebow had grown to a company employing over 100 people with revenues exceeding $25M in sales. As president of the company, he was responsible for sales and purchasing, maintaining relationships with several hundred suppliers from around the world and managing sales to over 5,000 retail shops, restaurants and distributors. Between 1993 and 1996, Peter served as a marketing consultant to both Italian and American wineries, and it was this experience in supporting the sales of a small number of products that gave birth to the objective of brand building.

Barry Matt has a 30 year career of successful entrepeneurship. He founded a health foods distribution company in 1970, and after merging with a non-foods distribution firm in 1973, he went on to build a customer base of 2000 supermarkets in 7 states, selling the company in 1978 to a major supplier. He then founded a strategic and operations consulting firm which grew to have a national professional staff of 23 with offices in Hartford, CT, Washington, DC, and Torrance, CA, before he retired from the firm to be with his young son in 1993.
