Marco Monchiero has had a long career in the production of Italian wines. In the town of Canale in the Piedmont where he currently serves as mayor, Marco began work on a small but technically advanced winery in the basement of his home. He began producing his own wines under the Monchiero Carbone label, incorporating his mother's maiden name in the brand.

Marco's objective is to produce exceptional quality, typical wines of the Roero region, focusing on Barbera, Nebbiolo, and Arneis. "Sru", a Nebbiolo wine produced outside the town of Canale, has an aromatic profile that recalls Barolo, but with a softer, earlier maturing tannins. The Arneis, made from fruit purchased from a variety of small growers, displays remarkably full body and bright, distinct aromas. It is equal of any wine of this type currently being produced in the region.
